Visiting Art Museums and Galleries for Inspiration
Museums collect important works of art and bring them together in one place. Seeing art in this kind of setting challenges and expands the way we think about the world.

Taking Art Strolls
I call wandering through a museum or gallery “taking an art stroll.” These visits have become a vital source of food for thought and stimulation for my artwork.
As far back as I can remember, I’ve loved going to museums. Nothing compares to seeing works of art up close and full scale. Art strolls also allow me to connect with other people, a counterpoint to all of the days spent working alone in my studio.
I try to visit nearby museums at least once a month, taking classes and going to lectures, seeing temporary shows as well as visiting the permanent exhibitions. Museum and gallery visits are high on the list when I travel, too. Looking at artwork and finding what I like and what I don’t like about it teaches me a lot about myself. It helps me think more clearly and find pathways in my work.
